King County man sentenced to 7 years for attempted pot robbery

The Associated Press

SEATTLE — A federal judge sentenced a 19-year-old King County man to seven years in prison for using a firearm during an attempted marijuana robbery that turned deadly.

Federal prosecutors say Lenny Brikn Jr. and his half-brother Deshawn Boykin pulled a gun and tried to rob two men who arrived at a Federal Way apartment complex to sell marijuana. But one of the men, David Ross, also had a firearm and shot at the two brothers. Boykin was hit and later died of his injuries.

On Friday, the judge sentenced Brikn to seven years in prison.

Ross faces charges of using a firearm during a drug-trafficking crime. His trial is set for January.
