Man accused of molesting child at Kent home day care

The husband of a woman who owned and operated a Kent child-care facility was arrested Friday after a 4-year-old reported he had touched her inappropriately.

The 61-year-old man is married to the woman who owned the facility, which she operated from their home in the 26000 block of 124th Avenue Southeast, according to the Kent Police Department. The daycare has been open since 2008 but its license was suspended because of the investigation.

Kent police responded to a report of a sexual-assault case on Sept. 4 after a girl who attended the daycare told her mother that he had touched her “privates.” The man was arrested Friday on suspicion of child molestation.

Detectives are working with Child Protective Services and the Department of Early Learning Licensing to ensure that other families that may have had contact with the man are notified about the investigation. Their goal is to make sure there are no other victims, Kent police Cmdr. Jarod Kasner said.

Anyone with information regarding additional victims is asked to call 911 or the Kent Police Department tip line at 253-856-5808.
