Pedestrian struck by car while crossing street in Renton

A pedestrian was critically injured when she was struck by a car in Renton Monday night, police said.

Witnesses said the car hit the woman when she was crossing the street in the 14900 block of Maple Valley Highway around 8:30 p.m., according to the Renton Police Department. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening injuries.

Westbound Maple Valley Highway will remain closed to traffic until midnight, the Police Department said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact 425-430-7500 and reference case number 14-10819.
