Three overnight fires in West Seattle may have been deliberately set, and Seattle police and the fire marshal are investigating.
Police received a call just before midnight Friday, after two people said they saw a man set fire to a dumpster in the 4300 block of Southwest Admiral Way. The witnesses reported yelling at the suspect before he ducked between two buildings and fled.
At the scene, officers spoke with witnesses and firefighters, learning someone had set another fire earlier that night in a dumpster in the 4100 block of Southwest Admiral Way. Witnesses put out that fire before firefighters arrived.
Two hours later, around 2 a.m., police were called to a third fire in the 3200 block of California Avenue Southwest, after someone set fire to abandoned apartment building, scheduled for demolition.
Police say witnesses who saw the man leaving the fire in the 4300 block of Southwest Admiral Way described him as a 5-foot-11-inch white male wearing a gray-and-white striped jacket and khaki shorts.
Police ask if you have any information about these fires to please call 911 and ask to speak to an officer.
