A woman was killed in Federal Way early Friday morning when she was hit by a car while crossing a roadway, according to Federal Way police.
Police said the woman, about 60, was crossing the street in the 32200 block of 21st Avenue Southwest at around 6:30 a.m. and had almost reached the curb when she was fatally struck by a northbound car.
“This appears to be an unfortunate tragedy due to poor driving conditions/light and a pedestrian crossing outside of a crosswalk,” police said in an emailed news statement. It was raining and still dark when the accident occurred, police said.
According to police, the driver, a Kent resident, has been fully cooperative with officers.
Police said several blocks on 21st Avenue Southwest will remain closed while the major traffic investigation team concludes their work.
