Saturday Memo: Pot tickets may be torn up … King Felix in Night Court … Can Huskies play D?

Weather: It’s all clear skies and sunshine for the next three days, according to the National Weather Service forecast. Highs will be in the upper 70s and low 80s. Conditions are prime to see the northern lights.

Chief wants pot tickets torn up: Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole has asked the city to seek dismissal of all citations issued by an officer who wrote 80 percent of the tickets during the first half of this year for using marijuana in public.

Buskers! Seattle Busker Week celebrates the 40th anniversary of the law that gave street musicians a right to play in public places. Arts writer Michael Upchurch talks with performer Jim Page, about how he led the charge for street-performer rights in 1974. He will will play at the festival, which runs Sunday through next Saturday (Sept. 14-20). Watch Page perform “Gasworks Park” in Gasworks Park in this video.

#Winning: It was a big day Friday for Seattle sports. Victory all around in Sodo. After a wobbly start from rookie James Paxton, Robinson Cano hit one of three home runs and the Mariners beat the A’s at Safeco, 4-2.  Mariners (80-66) The win moved Seattle a half-game behind the A’s in the wild-card standings. King Felix takes the mound Saturday for “Night Court” (first 35,000 fans gets special black commemorative T-shirts). Game starts at 6:10 p.m.  Oh, and the Sounders’ Andy Rose scored the final goal in the Sounders’ dramatic 3-2 victory over Real Salt Lake.

Huskies: Defense anyone? After that Eastern Washington game last week (eek, a 59-52 UW win with a score that was more like a basketball game), can the Huskies control their opponent? Illinois comes to Husky Stadium today. Watch the game on FOX at 1 p.m. Here’s reporter Adam Jude’s preview.
