Skateboarding teen critically injured in Renton hit-and-run

Update 9:30 p.m.: The driver suspected in a Renton hit-and-run crash that sent a 17-year-old skateboarder to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Sunday has been identified and is in contact with police, authorities said.

The suspect is a 16-year-old boy, and the vehicle suspected in the collision has been located and impounded, Renton officials said.

Original post: A 17-year-old boy who was skateboarding suffered critical injuries Sunday when he was struck by a new-model white Dodge Magnum on a residential Renton street, authorities said.

Witnesses phoned 911 to report the hit-and-run collision in the 4200 block of Northeast First Place about 5:40 p.m., said Renton officials, who did not identify the victim. The driver of the vehicle was male.

The victim’s injuries were considered life-threatening and he was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Anyone who saw the collision or who knows the whereabouts of the vehicle can contact Renton police at 425-430-7500.
