Mars Hill Church struggles to survive: The church and its founder-leader Mark Driscoll are the subject of an in-depth report today by staff writer Craig Welch. The story explores, among other things, the church’s dwindling numbers and Driscoll’s controversial interactions with church leadership and staff, which have been described by some as abusive and controlling.

Many deer, too little for them to eat: There are concerns whether deer are going to survive this winter in the Methow Valley where the largest wildfire in the state’s history blackened 400 square miles. In winter, deer come down from the mountains to forage on brush, most of which was burned in the fires. The state is allowing more deer to be taken by hunting as just one way to address the problem.

Ouch, Mariners lose 3-2 to the A’s: Closer Fernando Rodney gave away the game to the Athletics yesterday with four walks in the 10th inning, dropping the M’s back in the wild-card race.

Just in case you need to be reminded … yeah, right: The Seahawks play the Chargers in San Diego at 1:05 p.m. today. Extra Points: Previewing the Seahawks-Chargers game You can watch the game on FOX.

Like it hot? The temperature is expect to reach the upper 70s today and it’s expect to be warm tomorrow and Tuesday. By Wednesday, however, things could get cooler with high, maybe making it to 70 degrees. National Weather Service forecast
