Suspected ‘chop shop’ busted in Snohomish County

Police in Snohomish County have a arrested a 29-year-old man suspected of operating a ‘chop shop’ in the Marysville area, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the county’s Auto Theft Task Force served a search warrant Wednesday on the suspected chop shop in the 3100 block of 87th Avenue Northeast, where they arrested the suspect.

Detectives found three stolen vehicles, several dismantled vehicles and numerous¬†car parts, according to Shari¬† Ireton, director of communications for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Stolen vehicles and parts had been recovered from the same address on two other occasions in 2013, Ireton said.

The suspect, who lives at the address, was booked in Marysville Jail on investigation of theft of a motor vehicle, illegal wrecking yard and outstanding warrants, she said.
