Thursday Memo: RIP, JCP … Body at recycling center … Hiker rescued … The big game

J.C. Penny closing shop in Bellevue: If you have been reading business news over the past few years, you’re probably not too surprised that struggling J.C. Penney is closing its store at Bellevue Square.

Grisly discovery: Workers at a recycling center in Vancouver, Wash., found a body on a conveyor belt yesterday.

Hiker injured: It was a bit dicey, but the weather cleared for the helicopter team, and a hiker injured in Snohomish County was rescued last night and taken to the hospital.

There are reports of a shooting in Southeast Seattle overnight. Working on getting details on the story this morning.

Weather: Sun, sun, sun for the next several days with temps in the upper 70s and low 80s. Summer has returned. Take that, fall! National Weather Service forecast

Sounders get ‘er done: They got a quick start and routed Chivas USA 4-2.

Speaking of sports … We think there’s a big football game today. We’ve got a guide packed with a lot of information about the pregame concert and other activities tied to the Seahawks‘ match-up with Green Bay at 5:30 p.m.
