A semi-truck carrying 46,000 pounds of apples overturned after a collision on Highway 2 near Index, Snohomish County, on Friday evening, forcing the closure of the eastbound lane.

The semi-truck collided with a pickup around 5 p.m. near Mount Index River Road and overturned into a ditch, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash site, which included about 30 gallons of leaked diesel fuel and thousands of apples, blocked the eastbound lane. Traffic is alternating in the westbound lane, with an estimated reopening around 11 p.m.

The occupants of the trucks had minor injuries, the state patrol said. As for the apples? Just bruises.
