Tuesday Memo: Garbage out … Hope Solo ruling … Don’t pet the moose

Seriously? Yeah, yeah, we know, it’s good for the environment: But geez … Does the City of Seattle really have to start giving out fines to residents for putting too much compostable material into the trash? Though at $1, the fine is more of a symbolic reminder.

Hope Solo can continue to play:  U.S. Soccer says it’s standing by its decision to allow Hope Solo to continue to play while she faces domestic violence charges. Solo, the former UW soccer standout and a member of the women’s national soccer team and currently playing for Seattle Reign, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree domestic violence assault in Kirkland. The charges stem from an altercation with her half-sister and 17-year-old nephew at a family gathering last June.

So it wasn’t overloaded to begin with? The state ferry system now says the Bremerton-Seattle ferry that had to turn back in mid-August because it was overloaded  wasn’t really overloaded. A clicker used to count passengers was broken. It only took them a month to figure that out.

When you’re told not to pet a bull moose, don’t pet the moose. A man was told not to interfere while a state Fish and Wildlife officer tried to corral a moose in a Spokane cemetery Sunday. The man, who wanted to pet the moose and take its picture, apparently ignored the officer and the two got into a scuffle. The man was arrested for investigation of assault, drug possession and resisting arrest.
