UPDATE FRIDAY, 6 A.M.:

Forecasters say Friday’s rain in Washington should ease by the time Halloween trick-or-treaters hit the streets but there’s still a chance of showers.

The Weather Service also says it will be cool, with temperatures likely in the 40s on both sides of the state.

A series of storms will bring periods of rain and partial clearing into next week, forecasters say.

ORIGINAL POST:

The National Weather Service is forecasting a cool, wet Halloween in most of Washington.

Forecasters say a storm moving into the state Thursday will bring significant rain by Friday morning in Western Washington. Amounts of 1-to-2 inches are expected on the west side of the Cascades with 3-to-4 inches possible in the Olympics.

The heavy rain should be over by Friday night but a chance of showers remains in the forecast for Western Washington.

Forecasters say the front will move across Eastern Washington on Friday with a chance of rain continuing on Friday night.

Low temperatures Friday night are expected in the 50s in Western Washington and 40s in Eastern Washington. Cool temperatures are expected through the weekend.
