CAMAS, Wash. — Fire gutted 14 hangar bays and destroyed a number of small planes Monday night at Grove Field in Camas.
The airport is owned and operated by the Port of Camas-Washougal. Executive Director David Ripp told The Columbian no one was reported inside the E Hangar when fire broke out.
Firefighters from several districts, including Vancouver, responded and knocked down the flames in less than an hour.
Maintenance supervisor Steve Klopman says they prevented flames from spreading to other hangars.
The airfield leases more than 70 hangar bays to private pilots.
