VANCOUVER, Wash. — Police in Clark County are still looking for a fugitive who escaped in handcuffs Thursday after he was helped out of a deputy’s patrol car.
The sheriff’s office says 26-year-old Cameron Petersen of Woodland was stopped on a stolen motorcycle Thursday afternoon at a residence. He was handcuffed and placed in the back seat of the patrol car.
The deputy was questioning another man at the residence when that man took off. The deputy chased him and used a Taser to take him into custody.
Meanwhile, a woman at the scene opened the patrol car door and unbuckled Peterson who ran off into the trees with has arms still handcuffed behind his back. The woman was arrested for rendering criminal assistance.
Deputies, police and U.S. Marshals searched overnight for Peterson.
