Increased patrols in Leavenworth mean more Oktoberfest citations

The Wenatchee World

LEAVENWORTH — With more sheriff’s deputies on patrol, citations issued at Leavenworth’s annual Oktoberfest jumped from 21 last year to 75 this year.

“With more eyes on the street, you’re going to see more things that happen,” said John Wisemore, Chelan County undersheriff.

The citations were given out for the three weekends of the annual event, which ended Sunday.

Otherwise, crime during Oktoberfest was similar to last year, Wisemore said.

Deputies also responded to 72 criminal incidents, compared with 63 last year, Wisemore said.

The number of arrests was 16, which is down one from last year.
