Men from Tacoma, Portland among 11 sentenced for child porn

The Associated Press

HELENA, Mont. — A Tacoma man is among 11 men from eight states who were recently sentenced to between 15 and 19 years in federal prison for participating in an online bulletin board that allowed members to exchange child pornography, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

The men, including Steve Humiston, 57, of Tacoma, who was sentenced to 17 years and six months, pleaded guilty in March and April to conspiracy to advertise child pornography and were sentenced by U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy during hearings in Missoula, Mont., between Oct. 21 and 28.

Scott Long, 53, of Portland, was also sentenced. He got 16 years and eight months.

The invitation-only bulletin board was a place for members to advertise, distribute, receive and access child pornography and comment on the images, charging documents said.

The board had at least 44 members and was divided into numerous forums with images of little girls as well as forums for discussions about ways to avoid detection by law enforcement, including encrypting digital devices and masking one’s IP address while online.
