Police responded to reports of a stabbing Sunday morning in the 12300 block of Harbour Pointe Boulevard in Mukilteo, according to a release from the Mukilteo Police Department.
The victim, a 32-year-old male from Bellingham, was found lying in the living room with a stab wound to his chest, according to police. He was conscious, but having difficulty breathing.
The victim initially told police that he was attacked by a stranger while outside smoking a cigarette, according to a release from Colt Davis, Crime Prevention Officer in Mukilteo. Several other people who were there during the incident said they were sleeping and didn’t see anything.
After further investigation, it was determined that the suspect, a 36-year-old male from Shoreline, was at a child’s birthday party with the victim at the location, Davis said. During the party, the victim allegedly made some inappropriate comments and the suspect allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in the chest. The suspect then fled the scene, according to police.
The victim was transported to the hospital by the Mukilteo Fire Department.
Police tracked the suspect with a K-9 unit, but he wasn’t located, the report said.
At about 5:54 a.m. Mukilteo officers were again dispatched to the same area on reports that a man who matched the suspect’s description was knocking on doors and asking people for a blanket. Officers arrested the suspect and he was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on first-degree assault charges, according to police.
