North Kitsap student arrested for allegedly threatening to ‘shoot up’ school

Police have arrested a student from North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo for felony harassment after he allegedly threatened to “shoot up” the school, according to reports from KIRO.

A friend of the 16-year-old told his mother of the boy’s threats and the woman called the police, according to reports. The student was arrested at 11:30 p.m. at his home just outside of Poulsbo.

Police reportedly found guns at the boys home, according to KIRO.

Despite the threat, classes have not been canceled at the high school, according to reports. Classes begin at 7:55 a.m. with a scheduled early release at 1:35 p.m., according to the school district’s website.

Police believe there is no threat at North Kitsap High School but the district says extra officers are at the Poulsbo school Wednesday to reassure students.

Superintendent Patty Page sent an email to parents early Wednesday notifying them that police had arrested a student accused of threatening to harm other students.

The incident is one of several that have followed last week’s shootings at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
