Pair of pit bulls kill another dog in Troutdale

The Associated Press

TROUTDALE, Ore. — A pair of pit bulls attacked and killed a dog in Troutdale even though the dog’s owner gouged their eyes and beat them with a metal broomstick handle, and a neighbor pelted them with rocks.

Annie Stark tells The Oregonian the attack lasted 10 minutes before the neighbor hit the pit bulls with the blunt end of an ax-like splitting maul.

But, Stark says, despite care from an emergency veterinary clinic, the 8-year-old pug named Maggie died in her bed

The attack happened Friday. It was the third pit bull mauling reported in the Portland area recently.

On Sept. 24, a pit bull killed a 13-year-old Pomeranian aboard a Portland streetcar.

On Oct. 2, a pit bull attacked the landlady of a basement rental apartment. She was hospitalized.
