King County Sheriff’s deputies chased, crashed into, stunned with a Taser and ran down a suspected car thief before catching him early this morning in Shoreline.
The 42-year-old suspect would not stop driving the stolen vehicle he was in when a deputy tried to pull him over around 3:30 a.m. near North 145th Street and Aurora Avenue North, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The pursuing deputy then executed what’s known as a PIT maneuver on him in the 7600 block of Aurora Avenue North to make the suspect’s car stop and go sideways.
The deputy tried to stop the suspect from fleeing on foot by using a Taser on him, but the suspect was able to run away. A short time later, the deputy was able to run the man down and take him into custody. The Sheriff’s Office says the man experienced medical difficulties due to “an unknown cause” and was transported to a nearby hospital and is still there receiving treatment.
The Sheriff’s Office found that there was already a warrant out for the man’s arrest, and said that he will face additional charges associated with eluding law enforcement and having possession of stolen property.
