Four underclassmen at Juanita High School were arrested and “emergency expelled” from the school Thursday while Kirkland police investigate a reported sexual assault of an 18-year-old, male student in the school locker room.
KING5 has identified the victim as a special-education student and says the younger students were jabbing him with a broom.
According to a news release by Kirkland Police Lt. Mike Murray, the older student told his family he’d been assaulted on Wednesday, and his family reported the incident to police.
After their arrests, the four underclassmen were interviewed and released to their parents’ custody, Murray said.
Kirkland police are still investigating, Murray said, and the four younger students could face charges of attempted sexual abuse.
A spokesman for the school district told KING5 that school authorities are investigating why police were not called right away after the older student told a coach about the assault.
