The principal at the Seattle high school where a student was arrested for allegedly bringing an incendiary device to school has been placed on leave pending the outcome of a district investigation.
Seattle Public Schools announced Tuesday that Oksana Britsova, principal at The Center School, is on paid administrative leave. BiHoa Caldwell, a retired principal, will work as principal at the school while the district reviews whether all protocols were followed during Monday’s incident.
The district said in a letter to families that staff “effectively implemented their emergency plan” when a 16-year-old allegedly brought a Molotov cocktail, a bottle filled with flammable liquid, to the school and prompted an evacuation of the Seattle Center Armory building where the school is housed.
The teenager was arrested.
