Do you recognize the “Rent Money Bandit”?

The FBI believes he has robbed at least three King County banks since early August. Each robbery occurred during the first few days of the month, earning him his nickname.

The most recent bank robbery occurred about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, when he hit Chase Bank’s Overlake branch on 156th Avenue Northeast in Bellevue.

He’s also blamed for an Aug, 4 robbery at a Chase Bank on Gilman Boulevard in Issaquah, and another Sept. 2 at the Chase Bank branch on Southeast Sixth Way in Newcastle.

The FBI says “Rent Money” may be a white man in his 30s or 40s, around 6 feet tall, with a thin build. In all the robberies he has worn a dark baseball cap, dark sunglasses and black gloves. In two robberies, he wore a raglan shirt with dark sleeves.

During the Newcastle robbery, his cap had a distinctive, triangular letter “A.” (see photo below)

He implied he had a weapon in at least one robbery, according to the FBI.

Anyone with information on “Rent Money” is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Callers to Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a reward of up to $1,000.
