Reward offered for handguns stolen from Lakewood shop

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is investigating the theft of 30 semi-automatic handguns and other firearm parts from a Lakewood gun shop.

ATF said it was joining with the National Shooting Sports Foundation to offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves.

ATF Special Agent Brian Bennett said burglars broke into Quantico Tactical shooting supply, a licensed federal firearms dealer, on Monday and stole approximately 30 high-capacity Springfield semi-automatic handguns in 9 mm, .40- and .45 calibers. Also taken were “several upper and lower receivers” — the mechanical guts — of assault-style rifles in .223-caliber and a number of high-tech gunsights.

Bennett said the reward is part of a cooperative initiative where the shooting sports foundation agrees to match any reward posted by the ATF.
