Snohomish County Jail reports third recent death

The Associated Press

EVERETT — A woman found hanging in her cell at the Snohomish County Jail is the third death since the end of July at the jail in Everett.

The medical examiner’s office ruled that Monday’s death of 33-year-old Crystal Hollaway,  of Everett,  was a suicide.

The Daily Herald reports the death is at least the 13th at the jail since 2010. Jail officials are looking to improve suicide-prevention practices.

The Sheriff’s Office says Hollaway had been booked Saturday by Everett police for investigation of possessing a stolen vehicle.

Hollaway was screened and not considered a suicide risk. She was moved to a cell by herself after arguing with a cellmate.
