SPD investigating gunfire in Rainier Beach

Seattle police say were called to Rainier Beach on Tuesday afternoon for a report of gunshots.

Police spokesman Drew Fowler said officers were called to Rainier Avenue South and South Rose Street at 2:34 p.m. for the report. He said officers found a bullet casing on the street, but nobody who was shot.

“There’s nothing to indicate there was a person being targeted,” Fowler said.

Seattle Public Schools placed Dunlap Elementary, Rainier Beach High School, South Shore PK-8, Bailey Gatzert Elementary School and South Lake High School on “shelter in place” status while police investigated.
