Thief drives $75,000 car through Lake City dealership’s doors

Someone broke into a Lake City auto dealership early Tuesday morning and drove a $75,000 car through the locked doors, according to Seattle police.

A private security guard called 911 around 4:30 a.m. and reported someone had broken into the dealership, in the 11300 block of Lake City Way, stole a car and left a mess behind.

Police arrived to find tire tracks on the dealership’s tile floor and evidence that someone had smashed into the business, grabbed a set of car keys and then crashed the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 through the locked front doors of the building, according to police.

Both the brand-new Camaro and the dealership were badly damaged. A police account of the incident didn’t name the dealership, but an employee confirmed it was Bill Pierre Chevrolet.

The car was found in the driveway of a home just half a mile from the dealership.
