2,000 attend memorial for slain college student from Woodinville

The Associated Press

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. — Nearly 2,000 people attended a celebration-of-life memorial service for Parker Moore on Thursday evening in the gym at Linfield College.

The 20-year-old from Woodinville was stabbed to death last Saturday in a random attack at a convenience store near campus. The suspect was shot and killed when he confronted police with a knife.

Photos, flowers and football equipment were displayed as coaches and players remembered Moore, who wore No. 35. Linfield head football coach Joe Smith addressed Moore’s parents and called their son “extraordinary.”

College President Tom Hellie said the fabric of the community was ripped and torn by the slaying.
