Three candidates have been selected as finalists in the search for a new director of the King County Library System.
The finalists are Nicolle Davies, executive director of the Arapahoe Library District in Englewood, Colo., Pam Sandlian Smith, library director of Anythink Libraries in Thornton, Colo., and Gary Wasdin, executive director of the Omaha (Neb.) Public Library.
A reception is scheduled for Nov. 13 at the KCLS Service Center in Issaquah where library constituents and members of the public are invited to meet the candidates and provide written comment to the board of trustees for consideration. The reception starts at 5:30 p.m.
The KCLS Board of Trustees will conduct final interviews on Nov. 14.
The previous director, Bill Ptacek, resigned last year to accept the position of CEO of the Calgary Library System in Albert, Canada. Ptacek had been with the King County Library System, which operates 48 libraries with an annual operating budget of $94 million and 1,300 staff, for 25 years.
