Aberdeen thief returns statue carved in memory of veteran

ABERDEEN — A stolen statue that had been carved in memory of an airman killed in Afghanistan has been quietly returned to his mother’s front porch in Aberdeen.

Sally Sheldon tells KBKW she opened the door to see it back in time for Veterans Day.

The eagle perched on the Air Force insignia was carved by her brother in memory of her son Tim Davis who was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

The statue disappeared in September. Sheldon says it looks as if someone intended to try to sell it as a chain-saw carving.
