Cashmere farm dog killed, apparently by cougar

The Associated Press

CASHMERE  — A large farm dog was killed and mostly eaten by a wild animal in an orchard near Cashmere.

The 105-pound yellow lab named Zeus was found Saturday by his owner, Jeff Paton, who said there have been four cougar sightings at his orchard in the past year.

Fish and Wildlife Sgt. Dan Klump tells The Wenatchee World the dog was likely killed by a cougar but saliva samples are being analyzed at a lab to determine if it could have been a bear or a wolf.
