Couple pistol-whipped, robbed at Seattle’s Volunteer Park

Seattle police are looking for two men who robbed and pistol-whipped a man and woman Sunday night at Volunteer Park.

Police say the attackers came out of  bushes and confronted the two victims around 7 p.m. The two victims said they heard the sound of a handgun being cocked and one of the attackers saying they were being robbed.

The men took two phones and a credit card from the victims, police said.

Seattle police said the armed robber pistol-whipped a female victim and then the male victim when he stepped forward to help.

Police said the robbers left in a white Ford Crown Victoria and soon began tailgating a man. Police said one of the robbers got out of the Crown Victoria, and approached the man’s car at a traffic light, lifting his shirt to show a silver handgun tucked into his waistband.

Alarmed, the man drove to the East Precinct to report the incident.

Officers were able to get a plate number from one of the victims and are searching for the vehicle and its occupants.

The two injured victims were treated for cuts at a hospital.
