Deaths in Tacoma apartment may have been a murder-suicide

The News Tribune

Pierce County sheriff’s detectives are investigating a possible homicide-suicide at a South Hill apartment in Tacoma.

Investigators believe the 58-year-old man killed his 7-year-old daughter and then himself.

The cause of death has not been released.

The family was scheduled to be evicted from the apartment in the 17700 block of 85th Avenue Court East on Tuesday morning.

A neighbor asked deputies to make a welfare check after he knocked on the man’s door Tuesday morning and did not receive an answer.

The neighbor told deputies the man was suicidal Monday night and “talking of going far away,” sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
