Former King County health chief joins nonprofit PATH

Dr. David Fleming, who stepped down in August from his job as director of Public Health – Seattle  & King County,  is joining the Seattle-based PATH, a global health organization.

Fleming will lead the nonprofit’s Public Health Impact Division, which includes programs to boost maternal, child and reproductive health in the developing world and programs to develop new treatments and strategies to control malaria, tuberculosis and HIV.

A veteran of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where he served as director of global health strategies, Fleming described his new job as an “honor.”

“Public health – be it local or global – is about providing each of us with the best chance to be healthy,” he said in a statement.
