Kitsap County investigating woman’s death, graphic photos

The Associated Press

UPDATE: Wednesday, 9:10 a.m. | Deputy Scott Wilson said Wednesday that the identity of the woman found by a relative Tuesday afternoon has yet to be confirmed. The office can’t confirm the online postings but is taking them seriously.

Deputies are looking for the woman’s car, a gold 2001 Ford Focus, Washington license 495-YLY.

ORIGINAL POST, Tuesday | PORT ORCHARD — A Kitsap County sheriff’s spokesman says his agency is investigating a woman’s suspicious death in her Port Orchard-area apartment, as well as graphic photos purportedly showing the body and posted anonymously on an image-sharing website before authorities learned of the death.

Deputy Scott Wilson says the death appears to be a homicide, and the victim is believed to be in her early 30s, according to a report in the Kitsap Sun.

Wilson says the photos appeared to have been posted just before 3 p.m. Tuesday — about a half-hour before the death was reported. The photos included text indicating law enforcement would know about the death once one of the woman’s relatives found her body.

Deputies were called to the complex Tuesday afternoon. They think think the woman was the sole resident of the apartment. Her gold Ford Focus is missing, and sheriff’s officers were trying to locate it.

The Kitsap County coroner will identify the woman and determine the cause of death.
