YAKIMA — A Moses Lake man with no criminal history was arrested last week and charged with killing a Wapato Middle School teacher.
Marty Grismer, 27, was arrested by the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Desiree Sunford.
Sunford was killed in her home in April 2013 and until now police had no suspects in the case.
She was a 2000 Moses Lake High School graduate and had substitute taught there, according to a 2013 Columbia Basin Herald article. She later found full-time work at Wapato Middle School.
Yakima County Sheriff’s office detectives served several search warrants in and around Moses Lake on Thursday and found evidence linking Grismer to Sunford’s murder, according to the Associated Press.
Grismer is being held at the Yakima County Detention Center with a $2 million bail.
