The Associated Press

PORTLAND — Portland police say a large tree fell during heavy wind, striking a cyclist and damaging an occupied car.

The tree fell Tuesday during the onset of a severe weather system in northwest Oregon. The cyclist’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Occupants of the vehicle were not injured by the falling tree.

The tree blocked two lanes of traffic on a major north-south artery during rush hour
