Seattle police say a level 1 sex offender is being investigated in connection with a possible child-luring incident.
A 12-year-old boy was walking to school around 9 a.m. Monday when a black Ford pickup pulled alongside him in the 1600 block of 23rd Avenue Southwest. The driver said something to the boy, but he continued walking, police said. The truck then sped away.
The boy’s father, who was driving just ahead of the boy, witnessed the encounter. The boy told his father the man in the pickup had asked him to help with an errand, according to police.
The boy’s father caught up to the truck and wrote down the license plate number. The father then dropped the boy off at school and alerted police.
Officers went to the home where the they believed the truck’s driver lived, but residents at the house said he had not been there in more than a month, police said.
Detectives say a sex offender who is connected with the truck is considered a person of interest in the case.
