Suspected DUI driver dies after hitting Bremerton church

Associated Press

Police in Bremerton say a suspected drunken driver fleeing from an officer died early today in a crash in Bremerton.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle about 2 a.m. Friday but it sped off.

The chase only lasted about a minute, police said. The fleeing car hit a building at a “T” intersection, and the driver died at the scene.

Other media accounts indicate the building the driver hit is a church.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating.
