Lynnwood woman critically injured in probable arson fire; man arrested

Update at 8:45 p.m.: A man found inside a burning house Sunday night in Lynnwood was taken into custody Monday evening in connection with the probable arson fire, police said.

The man was booked into Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of first-degree arson and first-degree attempted murder, according to the Lynnwood Police Department.

A woman who was also found inside the home remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.

Original post: A Lynnwood woman is in critical condition Monday after being taken from a home in which a fire had been set, according to police.

The Lynnwood Police Department said in a statement released Monday morning that the fire was reported at 7:10 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 6200 block of 193rd Street Southwest.

Two people, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s, were found inside.

The man was taken to Swedish Hospital in Edmonds and is expected to be released on Monday. Police said that they were “waiting for his release,” but declined to give further information.

The woman is reported to be in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.

KOMO reported that firefighters found the man just inside the doorway and a woman farther back inside the burning home.

Detectives, along with the Fire Marshal, are treating the fire as an arson and investigators are expecting to serve a search warrant on the residence later this morning.
