CORRECTION | The Washington State Patrol issued a correction Monday saying that the female passenger killed in the Highway 20 accident on Sunday was wearing a seat belt. Firefighters at the scene cut the belt to attend to the woman.
PREVIOUS POST | A woman was killed just after 1 p.m. Sunday when the car she was riding in rear-ended a station wagon on eastbound Highway 20 in Skagit County, the Washington State Patrol said.
The Subaru station wagon had slowed down just west of Sedro-Woolley, near Jordan Road, because a vehicle ahead had stopped to make a left turn, according to State Patrol spokesman Mark Francis.
The victim’s car, a Honda Accord with a male driver, slammed into the Subaru, which was carrying two adults and two children, Francis said.
The Honda’s female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, he said. The Subaru’s passengers were taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
The people involved were not immediately identified. There were no criminal charges as of Sunday afternoon, Francis said.
