Update, Thursday, 5:35 a.m. | Police activity ended early Thursday morning and the suspect was not located, according to a tweet from the Puyallup Police Department. An explosive device was secured and the suspect is still at large, police say.
Update at 9 p.m.: The Puyallup Police Department says officers are still at the scene where a person is barricaded inside a house. Roads in the area are closed.

Officers are at the scene in the 2000 block of Eighth Street Southwest, the Puyallup Police Department said around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Ninth Street Southwest between 17th Avenue Southwest and 23rd Avenue Southwest is closed for police activity.
Residents should avoid the area, the police department said.
