2 killed, 3 injured in Redmond collision

Two people are dead and three others, including a 4-year-old child, are injured following a collision in the 18400 block of N.E. 128th Way near Redmond, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. DB Gates said the fatal accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when an Acura Integra with two people inside was traveling west on Northeast 128th Way and collided head on with an eastbound Honda Accord occupied by two adults and a 4-year-old child.

The two people inside the Acura died at the scene, Gates said. Their identities will be released by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office after next of kin have been notified. An adult female in the Honda suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The adult male and the child in the Honda sustained minor injuries, Gates said.

Gates said the cause of the collision and whether drugs, alcohol or speed were involved will not be known for weeks as detectives with the King County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Response and Reconstruction unit work to reconstruct what happened.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it is asked to call the King County Communications Center at (206) 296-3311.
