6-ton excavator stolen in SW Washington

The Associated Press

LONGVIEW — What do you do with a stolen 6-ton excavator? The owner of one that vanished last Friday night say investigators say it’s probably already on another job site.

The Daily News of Longview reports that Michelle Horsley and her husband, Greg, own Horsley Timber & Construction of Castle Rock, Washington. They were going to move the machine to another job on Saturday, but by then it had vanished.

The orange and black Kubota machine was valued at more than $60,000.

The Cowlitz County sheriff’s office says someone cut out a section of chain link fence, started the machine and apparently loaded it onto a trailer. The sheriff’s office says the thief likely used a full-size truck and a flatbed trailer.
