PORT ANGELES — Police in Port Angeles who temporarily cut off access to eight blocks of the city after a report of gunfire Monday evening say they have arrested a man armed with a rifle.
The Peninsula Daily News reports that detective Sgt. Tyler Peninger says officers initially tried talking to the man they found walking down a street. They negotiated with the man until shortly after 7 p.m., then took him into custody after using a stun grenade.
Peninger says officers found no injured people inside the man’s house. They were checking other homes Monday night for any possible victims.
The shots fired report came in shortly after 5 p.m.
Peninger says police are trying to confirm the identity of the armed man.
