There’s a heavy police presence at Seattle City Hall Wednesday in advance of an expected protest.
Thus far, only a small group of protesters have gathered in the lobby. But police and security guards are staked out near elevators, in the lobby and outside.
Police outnumber those who say they are there to protest.
People planning to protest the decision not to charge a former white police officer with fatally shooting an unarmed black man in Ferguson, Mo. had been expected to demonstrate prior to a meeting of the City Council’s Public Safety Committee. They also plan to urge police to equip officers with body cameras.
Police plan to launch a pilot body-camera program later this month, but some protesters say they are skeptical.
