Police: Oregon hit-and-run victim carried 11 blocks on luggage rack

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Police have arrested a suspect in a hit-and-run fatality in Springfield in which the victim was carried for 11 blocks on a luggage rack before police say he either was removed or fell into the street.
The Register-Guard reports investigators arrested 30-year-old Isabel Gloria McDaniel of Veneta on Saturday. Police say her husband, 24-year-old Gary Louis McDaniel, was cited for tampering with evidence.
She’s accused of driving the car that hit 67-year-old Daniel Ortiz-Reynaga on Thursday, flipping him on top of the car.
Police say the car carried the man for 11 blocks before he either fell or was removed and left in the street. He was pronounced dead at a Springfield hospital. He 39-year-old son suffered minor injuries in the incident.
