UPDATE 8:24 a.m.| Bellevue police say that an 18-year-old motorist struck and killed a 77-year-old woman at 150th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 38th Street just after 6 a.m.
Police spokesman Seth Tyler, in a news release, said the 18-year-old man, who lives in Bellevue, is cooperating with the investigation. Tyler said that drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The northbound lanes of 150th Avenue Southeast are closed in the area while police investigate.
Tyler said the pedestrian was dressed in a dark-colored coat. He said it’s unclear whether the driver could see her.
Bellevue police are investigating whether the woman was crossing the street legally.
UPDATE, 7:15 a.m. | The pedestrian killed in the accident was a 77-year-old Seattle resident and the driver was an 18-year-old Bellevue resident, according to police reports.
