Renton PD: Pedestrian struck as he crossed Rainier Avenue South

A pedestrian crossing Rainier Avenue South on Wednesday night has died from injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle turning from Southwest Sunset Boulevard onto southbound Rainier Avenue South, according to Terri Vickers of the Renton Police Department.

In a news release, Vickers said a number of people phoned 911 to report a “man in the roadway” in the 300 block of Rainier Avenue South.

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he succumbed to those injuries at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

The driver of the vehicle that hit him stayed at the scene, Vickers said.
